Correctional facility benefits from Certified Refurbished Systems
Baviaanspoort Medium Centre, a correctional facility east of Pretoria, has received 10 Certified Refurbished Systems (CRS) desktop computers from Xperien to assist inmates with basic and advance courses in Information Technology..
The centre has a vibrant Education Department which offers offenders qualifications in Business and Engineering Studies during their incarceration. However, they are limited by the centre not running computer studies which is often a pre-requisite for a National Diploma and various other qualifications.
Baviaanspoort Medium Correctional Centre Development: Educationist Francina Manthata says this donation will provide much needed assistance to officials facilitating TVET programmes and offenders striving for a better future.
“It is our wish to forge an ongoing partnership between The Department of Correctional Services and Xperien with a focus on educational and training programmes in Information and Communication Technology,” she adds.
Xperien managing director Alvin Peacock says they are proud to be part of this campaign. “This donation forms part of our quest to help curb electronic waste (eWaste) by lengthening the lifecycle of electronic equipment through refurbishment.”
“By purchasing a refurbished system, one automatically contributes to the reduction of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, promotes a greener planet and creates a better future for generations to come by going green,” he explains.
After 14 years of innovation and development, Xperien has refined its refurbishment processes which are ISO certified and audited. These CRS devices run through intensive processes which include replacing faulty components, manufacturer OEM burn in testing, cosmetic surgery, quality control, performance upgrading, software and firmware redeployment and packaging.
“If your IT budget is lean, then refurbished products offer high-quality, warrantied product at a low cost. However, there are a number of things to keep in mind when you buy refurbished products. Ensure your product was refurbished and certified by a trusted and accredited refurbishing company that offers adequate warranties and return policies,” he adds.
Peacock says refurbishing is not merely the cleaning and packaging of devices. “We offer Grade-A products, all our CRS products are put through factory grade processes that are certified and audited by ISO 14001:2015, ISO9001:2015.”
“Buying a refurbished system will provide a far better price versus value specification when compared to buying a new one. However, when purchasing a pre-owned computer or laptop, one must ensure that it is a Certified Refurbished System,” he concludes.
Xperien also offers a 12 – 24 month warranty so that customers can buy CRS with piece of mind knowing that they have purchased from an accredited supplier with aftersales service. Its stamp of assurance is its promise to deliver quality, value for money and integrity in every CRS product sold.
